Which makes it fitting that the DOAF x Nike Total 90 “Beautiful Game,” released the at the height of this summer’s tournament, embodies both of those distinctive qualities, and more.
The sophisticated woven upper features colors from of the flags of the tournament’s three host countries, while representing the many nations, players and stories that make up the fabric of football and the World Cup tournament. Contrasting the bright woven pattern, the rest of the upper is rendered in black suede and features branding elements commemorating the occasion of the release, including “Beautiful Game” stitched in white on the tongue, DOAF branding in black on the heel counter, and “20” “26” raised black numbering replacing the style’s traditional “90” graphic. Reflective accents and glow-in-the-dark rubber outsole elements reference the bright moments that define World Cup play, while gold-tipped laces and a metallic soccer ball hangtag suggest the trophy awaiting the tournament’s eventual champion.
